Do You Have Diabetes? Are You an African American Woman?

If you are an African American woman and have been diagnosed with diabetes, then you may be eligible to participate in a research study at the UConn Health Center in Farmington. The study, being conducted by Dr. Julie Wagner, investigates the effects of stress and racism on blood pressure and blood sugar levels in African American women with diabetes. If you are eligible and choose to participate you will be asked to:

  • Complete some questionnaires,
  • Give a small blood sample,
  • Wear a monitor that checks your blood pressure, blood sugar, and activity level at home.
Participants will be receive up to $175 for completing the study and provided free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.
